The Karachi police chief, Additional Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, has chaired a meeting at the Karachi Police Office (KPO) regarding crime control and traffic management. Officials said the meeting was attended by the Karachi Range DIGs, traffic DIG, district SSPs, traffic SPs and other senior officers.
The Karachi Range DIGs briefed Odho on the police performance in their zones, while the traffic DIG informed him about the current strategies of the traffic police. The meeting reviewed the current situation of crime and traffic accidents.
The city police chief issued orders to expedite police operations against criminal elements on a priority basis and immediately arrest the suspects involved in important cases. He also ordered strict legal action against those violating traffic rules.
Instructions were also issued for increased snap checking and patrolling and action against firing in the air. Later on Thursday, an eight-member delegation led by Community Policing Karachi (CPK) chief Murad Soni met the Karachi additional IGP. The delegation appreciated the police’s efforts to improve law and order in the city.
Soni presented suggestions to the Karachi police chief for upgrading CCTV cameras in the city. Odho assured him that his suggestion would be taken into consideration. The city police chief said the cameras installed under the CPK had played an important role in crime prevention and provided significant help in eliminating street crime. He said police were being modernised on modern lines and work was underway on the Safe City project while the S4 project was also being upgraded.
