Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on 08-August-2025 celebrated the 78th Independence Day of the country with differently-abled children in two heart-warming events held at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum and the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Both events, marked under the theme “Markaz-e-Haq”, highlighted inclusivity, unity, and national pride. The day began at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, where the Department of Culture hosted a vibrant programme. Over 100 children from institutions such as Scanosa, C-Arts, Dar Al-Sukoon, and Umeed-e-Nau participated in the celebration, which featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, national songs, and cultural performances in Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, and Pashto.
The CM, accompanied by Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary DEPD Tauha Farooqi and prominent artists like Javed Sheikh and Ayub Khoso, engaged warmly with the children. He sang national songs, joined children on stage, and cut a cake to mark the occasion. He praised the courage and talent of the children, stating, “These special children are the heart of this celebration. They bring joy, energy, and hope.”
He emphasised his government’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity, equality, and support for the differently-abled. “Every citizen deserves respect, dignity, and opportunity regardless of physical or mental ability,” he said. He announced plans to expand special education and rehabilitation centres in every district and strengthen vocational and artistic training programmes for special children.
Mazar-e-Quaid: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited Mazar-e-Quaid, accompanied by his cabinet members and differently-abled children. The DEPD had organised a special programme at the mausoleum, which began with a soulful rendition of the national anthem by the children. Mr Shah laid a floral wreath, offered prayers for peace and prosperity, and paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation.
In an emotional gesture, the CM lifted a special girl onto the podium to stand beside him during his speech. “Today, we celebrate our freedom with gratitude and renew our commitment to serve our people with sincerity,” he said. Referring to a recent conflict, he added, “In May, India launched an attack, and our armed forces gave a strong and befitting response. Pakistan achieved a great victory.”
Shah called upon the nation to remain united in times of difficulty and lauded the bravery of the armed forces. “Unity, strength, and justice come from our collective will,” he remarked, pledging continued support for the rehabilitation and development of people with disabilities.
He also announced a grand Independence Day celebration on the night of August 13 at the National Stadium, Karachi, with special arrangements for differently-abled children to participate comfortably and joyfully.
CM Shah expressed his happiness with celebrating the 78th Independence Day, with the theme of “Markae Haq,” and said that Independence Day carries a message of pride, gratitude, and unity.
He called on everyone to renew their commitment to justice and inclusivity. Honouring special children by celebrating Independence Day with them was described as a privilege by the chief minister.
He shared that the support system is being strengthened, from early diagnosis to social integration. Collaboration with private institutions and NGOs is enhancing service outreach. He praised autism centres and special education institutions for their dedication, patience, and spirit, which are transforming lives. He noted that raising public awareness remains a challenge and called upon the media to play a positive role.
Acknowledging the efforts of hardworking teachers and the courage of special children, the CM urged increased awareness among parents to help their children benefit from available facilities.
