The effectiveness of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in Sindh for addressing business-related human rights abuses is critically assessed, with a focus on the expanded role of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) under the SPHRA (Amendment) 2022. Existing frameworks, including the SHRC and Court-Annexed Mediation Center, are identified, highlighting the necessity for improvements to enhance accessibility and effectiveness in protecting human rights.
To foster an environment where human rights are safeguarded and businesses are held accountable, the SHRC’s independence must be strengthened, awareness of ADR options increased, and a legal aid framework established for victims of human rights violations. Implementing these strategies will promote meaningful change in dispute resolution practices, ensuring that human rights remain a priority in business operations.
