In a display of incompetence, the Education Department of Sindh has failed to handle the publication of textbooks, leaving the educational future of students of the entire province in jeopardy.
Despite the textbook budget ballooning from Rs2 billion to a staggering Rs6 billion, the department remains helpless. The situation has become so dire that the academic session, initially set to begin on April 1, was delayed by two months during the caretaker government’s tenure. The provincial government now finds itself unable to announce a distribution schedule for the essential textbooks, pushing the start date of schools from August 1 to August 15 under the feeble excuse of harsh weather conditions and a heatwave.
This unprecedented delay has effectively bulldozed two and a half critical academic months for Sindh’s students, dealing a severe blow to their education.
