HYDERABAD: A young woman has booked her father in a case of attempted rape at a police station in Matiari district on 13 April 2024.
According to Bhit Shah police, the complainant, Shabana Bhatti has accused her father Khamiso Bhatti of attempting to rape her younger sister Arifa Bhatti, 22.
As per the First Information Report (FIR), the victim, Arifa, reportedly resisted the rape attempt by his allegedly drunken father inside their house in Bhit Shah and her shouts drew neighbours to their house who also recorded videos and took photographs.
The videos of the incident were later shared on social media, compelling the district’s police to take notice and action.
Commenting on the incident, Bhit Shah police station SHO, Amjad Chandio, said that the police have arrested Khamiso soon after the complaint was lodged.
He said that the incident had occurred during the Eid holidays. According to him, the complainant was attending a wedding when she was informed about the incident in their house by a neighbour.
