A man set his sister-in-law on fire after dousing her with petrol before fleeing the scene in the Bagh-e-Korangi area of Korangi on 10-Febraury-2025.
As a result, a fire broke out inside the house within the jurisdiction of the Awami Colony police station. In the incident, the woman burned to death, and her two children — a son and a daughter — sustained burn injuries while attempting to save their mother.
The police arrived at the scene and transferred the casualties to the burns ward of the Civil Hospital, Karachi. The deceased woman was identified as 40-year-old Gulshan Bibi, wife of Rashid, while the injured children were identified as 16-year-old Asma and 17-year-old Ahmed. Both children are receiving treatment at the hospital and are reported to be out of danger.
According to initial reports, the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, and the suspect, Dilawar, remains at large. He is a brother-in-law of the deceased and also resides in Bagh-e-Korangi. He allegedly entered the house, poured petrol on his sister-in-law, and set her on fire before fleeing the scene. Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect, and further investigations are ongoing.
