HYDERABAD: A case has been registered at the Baldia police station against two doctors and other staffers of a private hospital for negligently declaring a healthy newborn dead.
The FIR has been registered on the complaint of the father, Muhammad Rafiq Bhayo, a resident of Muhammad Bux Shoro village of District Qasimabad.
The complainant has said that on October 28 his wife was admitted for delivery in a private hospital where she gave birth to a baby girl through the normal procedure. However, on October 30, a doctor told the couple that the baby had died and, wrapped in a shroud, she was handed over to them.
When Rafiq brought the baby home, he found that she was alive. He rushed her to the Civil Hospital, where she later died during treatment.
According to the complainant, her daughter was given the wrong treatment by doctors. He said that due to carelessness of the private hospital management, his newborn was wrapped in a shroud, which caused her death.
Meanwhile, the accused doctors and another employee of the hospital approached the 4th additional district sessions judge for interim bail. The court approved their bail till November 11 on a surety bond of Rs100,000.
On the other hand, the grieving father reached the Hyderabad Press Club and alleged that he was being harassed after the filing of the case against the doctors.
He said the police did not arrest the accused and efforts were being made to bring about reconciliation by putting pressure on him through the police.
