SHRC Member Sukhdev A Hemnani has called for foolproof security at the places of worship of the Hindu community
KARACHI:
Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Member Sukhdev A. Hemnani has called for foolproof security at the places of worship and communal spaces of the Hindu community during the Diwali festival which will be celebrated from Oct 31 to Nov 3.
In a letter to the Sindh police chief on behalf of the SHRC, Hemnani recommended that special measures should be taken throughout the province for the protection of the places of worship and communal spaces of the Hindu community in order to ensure peaceful observance of the “Festival of Lights.” He said per Constitution, “Adequate provision shall be made for the minorities to [freely] profess and practice their religions.”
