Speedy Trailer Claims Teenager’s Life

March 29, 2025

A speeding heavy trailer caused another fatal accident in the city, killing a young motorcyclist and severely injuring another near Northern Bypass in Surjani Town.

According to police, the accident occurred near Attock Pump Check Post on Northern Bypass late on Wednesday, when a trailer collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the instant death of a 16-year-old boy, Owais, son of Sadiq. His friend, Naeem, was critically injured. Both victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Owais was pronounced dead.

According to SHO Surjani Town Ghulam Hussain Pirzada, the deceased was a resident of Jahanabad Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar. He and his friends were riding two motorcycles, heading from Gulshan-e-Maymar to a canal in Manghopir for a swim, when the high-speed trailer hit them near Attock Pump and fled the scene.

Police have launched a search operation to track down the driver and the runaway trailer. Separately, police registered a double murder case after a tragic accident caused by negligence and overspeeding on Sharrea Faisal resulted in the deaths of a man and his wife. The incident had occurred on Wednesday night near PAF Faisal Base, where a 17-year-old driver lost control of his speeding car, leading to the deaths of a couple sitting on the footpath. The FIR has been registered under causing death by negligence sections, based on a complaint filed by the father of the deceased woman.

A police report on the incident said the accused driver, Aneeq, son of Ayaz Inam, did not possess a driving licence or a CNIC. The accident happened after Iftar, a time when traffic congestion on Sharea Faisal usually decreases.

The car had three passengers along with the driver. The motorcycle was in its designated lane, but the car, coming from the fast lane, suddenly swerved left, hitting the motorbike. The impact also affected the couple sitting on the footpath, resulting in their deaths.

The driver was underage and legally unfit to drive. The car’s speed was approximately 120 km/h, far exceeding the safety limit. It is yet to be confirmed whether the tire burst before or after the accident. The motorcyclists were not wearing helmets, violating safety regulations.
