HYDERABAD:
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team of the Education Department has raided a government-run school in the Hyderabad area and recovered a huge quantity of textbooks that had been hidden in the storeroom instead of being distributed to students.
As per reports, the raid was led by Naila Khatyan, Chief Monitoring Officer of the Education Department’s M&E wing in Hyderabad, on a tip-off.
During the search at Government Shah Latif Girls High School, thousands of textbooks intended for various classes were found concealed. These books had been sent by the Sindh Textbook Board for distribution to students.
Khatyan stated that the operation was conducted under the directives of M&E Director General Zainul Abideen Ansari. The seized textbooks were later redistributed to classrooms under the supervision of the M&E team to ensure they reached the students.
A formal report on the incident will be prepared against the responsible Taluka Education Officer and submitted to higher authorities for appropriate action.
Khatyan expressed concern over the discovery, saying that the textbooks were meant for students but had been deliberately withheld.
Meanwhile, several government-run primary and high schools in Hyderabad and other rural areas of Sindh are currently facing serious challenges due to the lack of textbooks for students.
