Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on 28-July-2025 took notice of a girl’s murder over love marriage in Kandiaro. He directed the provincial police chief and the chief secretary to submit detailed reports on the matter.
Shah condemned the killing in the name of customs and beliefs as “utterly unacceptable”. He ordered the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and strict legal action against them. He made it clear that those delivering verdicts in the name of jirgas (tribal councils) are also criminals. He said women’s killings in the name of honour would never be tolerated.
He assured the girl’s family that justice would be served, and stressed that the government is committed to protecting women’s rights and ensuring their safety. He also took notice of a railway track explosion near Jhamar Wah, close to Shikarpur. The blast caused three carriages of the Jaffar Express to derail at around 10:20 am. He ordered providing immediate medical aid to the injured. Multiple people have been injured, but there have been no deaths.
Police and rescue teams arrived promptly at the site and continued the relief efforts. Rail traffic has been temporarily suspended on this route, affecting other train services. The CM ordered a thorough investigation into the incident, and vowed to bring the people responsible to justice, describing the explosion as “an attack against the state”. He stressed that no one involved would be spared.
Separately, in a message issued in connection with World Hepatitis Day, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing quality health care to every resident of the province. He said the government remains at the forefront of the fight against hepatitis, expanding free testing and treatment services for hepatitis B and C across urban and rural areas.
He urged the public to adopt precautionary measures and seek timely treatment. He expressed Sindh’s dedication to eliminating hepatitis by 2030 in line with global health targets. He emphasised that significant investments have been made in the health sector to ensure a healthier Sindh, with continued cooperation with the World Health Organisation towards achieving these goals.
