Pakistan Non-Formal Education Statistics Report 2021-22 is a joint effort by the Pakistan Institute for Education (PIE), the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, and the JICA-AQAL Project. It aims to provide stakeholders, including lawmakers, policymakers, educationists, and researchers, with a clear statistical overview of the non-formal education sector in Pakistan. The report reveals that a vast majority of students enrolled in non-formal education programs, about 81%, are registered with government organizations, while the rest, 19%, are with private or development sector organizations. It also highlights that girls represent 36% of the non-Muslim student population. The out-of-school rates for children in the year 2021-22 are alarmingly high across various educational levels, with the highest being 60% at the higher secondary level, followed by 44% at the high school level, 30% at the middle school level, and 36% at the primary level. Furthermore, the report indicates that there are 10.77 million children out of school at the primary level, pointing to significant challenges in the education sector that need to be addressed.
